Clean Your TV

A family TV, debloated and given a home screen of its own.

The custom home: a wolf wallpaper, the clock, a family greeting and what's playing.
Stock Google TV home: a full-width promoted show, rows of recommendations, apps last.

Questions

Is this the official cleanyourtv project?

No. This is one family's TV, built on Gathin's open-source cleanyourtv and not affiliated with it. The project's own site is cleanyour.tv.

What does this page show?

The story of our Sony BRAVIA running Google TV, screen by screen: the stock home it came with, the 26 packages we switched off, and the home screen, family screen and screensaver it has now.

Is anything changed permanently?

No. The bloat is disabled, never uninstalled, so any of it can be switched back on, and one script rebuilds the whole setup after a factory reset.

Can I get this on my TV?

There's nothing to download here. Gathin's cleanyourtv is made for Android and Google TVs in general; this page shows how one family set theirs up.

Who made it?

Mehboob Shaikh, a lead full-stack engineer in Mumbai, for his family's living room — a personal, non-commercial project.
